Business Unit Manager | Cork 

Our client are currently looking for an enthusiastic and experienced geotechnical engineer / manager to taking a leading role in the launch of their new agency currently located in Cork but looking to expand
throughout Ireland.

The candidate will oversee day-to-day operation of the business at a management level, to always ensure the smooth running of the company (commercial experience with a strong network in civil engineering
and/or geotechnical engineering is beneficial).

Duties:
• Business development and promotion in the construction market
• Compilation of technical and financial proposal for clients
• Provide technical and commercial guidance to engineers and site staff as necessary
• Oversee projects and ensure successful delivery
• Liaise with our clients team and administrative staff to ensure the day to day running of the business
• Represent our client and contribute at technical seminars

Requirements:
• Degree qualified within a relevant discipline – BEng, MEng, MSc in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering
• Chartered Engineer
• 10 years’ experience in a similar management role
• Strong understating of geotechnical design from first principles including but not limited to ground improvement, foundation behaviour, retaining structures and slope stability assessments
• Excellent people management skills and ability to make a team work effectively
• Excellent time management, organisational, oral/written communication skills, critical thinking, and attention to detail is required
• Knowledge of management, procurement, supervision, and interpretation of ground investigations
• Ability to work on own initiative and collaborate when necessary
• Knowledge of geotechnical software such as Plaxis beneficial
