Commercial Manager - Facades, Cladding, Roofing 

Co. Wicklow

Our client is a market leader in the Facades, Cladding and Roofing sector, operating throughout Dublin, Leinster, Ireland and Europe. 

Key Functions and Responsibilities include:

• Manage a team of quantity surveyors to ensure all commercial aspects of projects are managed effectively
• Responsible for cost controlling costs on all projects and ensuring budgets are achieved
• Report on deviations from budget immediately to allow for corrective action to take place
• Implementation of commercial recovery strategies where required
• Management of the Client relationships from a commercial perspective and ensuring all final accounts are agreed, whilst retaining the business relationship
• Proactive engagement with the Project Managers on all live projects, to ensure the business goals are achieved and the commercial interests of the company are protected
• Monitoring projects through design stage and working with the design team to ensure project deliverables are achieved and project risks are minimised
• Preparing progress applications and accurate cost reports, and monthly management accounts for each project
• Reporting to management on the financial progression of projects
• Keep abreast of material price increases and implement strategies to mitigate inflation risk
• Review sub-contract documentation and negotiations of the commercial risks with perspective clients

Necessary skills and requirements:

• A strong technical background in contracting is essential for this role
• Exceptional commercial awareness
• Possess the skills to mentor and train members of your team
• A proven track record of quantity surveying fundamentals is essential
• Strong operational skills and an attention to detail, and experience of the design build process
• Have gained a minimum of 10 years’ experience working on building projects in Ireland or the UK as a Senior Quantity Surveyor/ Commercial Manager, working with a recognised main contractor / sub-contractor
• 3rd level Qualification in Quantity Surveying / Construction economics
• Good presentation and general management skills
• Strong written communication abilities, and the ability to negotiate a strong commercial position for the company, are also essential
• The ability to multi-task and take an overview on a large number of projects at any time
