Signalling testing and commissioning experience on railway engineering projects. The experience must include pre-commissioning testing of signalling/telecoms systems.
Experience in the Railway Industry, an ability to deal with technical and operational issues and a clear understanding of the operational railway.
Membership of the Institute of Railway Signal Engineers or equivalent
Extensive knowledge of all signalling design standards
Ability to produce and maintain documentation to a high standard
Ability to organise Testing & Commissioning work to meet strict deadlines.
Demonstrated Safety Management capability appropriate to the role and purpose of the position.
Educated to university degree or holding a related qualification

General Management Responsibilities
Ensure all projects are accurately assessed from a Testing & Commissioning perspective.
Ensure all documentation is available timely for delivery of signalling projects.
Support the Testing & Commissioning Engineer in identifying the key risk areas to ensure that staff, contractor, consultants and outside bodies comply with relevant company policy, standards and procedures.
Comply with the general duties of Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
Comply with Safety Statement and in particular ensure that facilities, access and egress and plant machinery are safe and without risk to all health, safety and welfare at work of all employees under your control.
Undertake any other relevant duty assigned by the Testing & Commissioning Engineer to facilitate delivery of projects to the agreed project programme.
Liaise with staff assigned to projects so that project objectives are achieved.
Ensure adherence to corporate HR policy and procedure.
To manage all SE&T testing ensuring that all testing is planned and carried out by personnel competent in the role of signal and telecoms testing
To determine what is necessary and to ensure that the requisite competent personnel and other resources are available
The production and implementation of the testing plan and any associated commissioning plans
To ensure a Testing Strategy is produced for projects undertaken, detailing the proposed testing methodology prepared on the basis of the specification, proposed layout and anticipated testing content of the scheme. The Testing Strategy shall be in accordance with current practice and all relevant standards issued
To ensure a Testing & Commissioning Plan is produced for any signalling scheme. The testing and commissioning Plan shall be in accordance with current practice and all relevant standards issued.
To record all details of tests carried out for each scheme to ensure that a primary auditable record of testing achievement is maintained.
To produce all test documentation and a Master Test Certificate for each project and ensure all documentation is accurately completed and recorded
To produce Test Logs and Checklists as appropriate for each signalling alteration.
To ensure all testing documentation and records are accurately completed and maintained in storage of the life cycle of the system.
To manage the issue of operating instructions and other information related to the operation of all new systems introduced
To analyse all standards issued and assess their impact on projects undertaken
Observance of company and Infrastructure policy, standards and procedures and facilitate compliance with the Company’s Safety Management System in respect of your sphere of influence.
Perform duties in accordance with Statutory and Corporate Health, Safety and Environmental requirements
To conform to policy in relation to all staff and related matters in accordance with corporate policy
