Senior Quantity Surveyor

Role: Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Dublin

 Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Commercial Manager

    • Project Procurement: Manage all subcontract and specialist supplier procurement. This includes detailed package breakdown and analysis, alternative and value engineering assessments, in line with the project schedule.
    • Subcontractor Management: Handle contractual appointments, collateral warranties, and bonds as required. Conduct detailed monthly assessments and agreement of interim valuations and claims. Maintain proactive communication and management of subcontract accounts and payments.
    • Main Contract Management: Implement and manage procedures and protocols related to Private/Public works contracts at the project level with full understanding and strict adherence.
    • Change Order Management: Oversee prompt and detailed management of all project changes, including notifications and additional particulars, in accordance with contract timelines and constraints.
    • Documentation Review: Thoroughly review all project documentation to understand the scope of works and requirements.
    • Project Management Understanding: Possess a solid understanding of project management, scheduling, and project programming.
    • Communication: Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, encouraging regular communication across the construction project team.
    • Software Competency: Proficient in construction software packages, including CDE (ideally Procore) and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Client and Vendor Consultation: Engage with clients, vendors, and internal teams to discuss costs.
    • Cost Monitoring: Track subcontractor costs, explore variances, and manage significant issues in collaboration with the commercial manager.
    • Monthly Cost Reports: Prepare detailed monthly reports on actual costs and value, including comprehensive prelim breakdowns and project cost tracking.
    • Cost Monitoring Systems: Administer cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures as required.
    • Special Cost Studies: Conduct studies to explore options, alternatives, and various scenarios for informed decision-making.
    • Team Management: Mentor and develop junior/intermediate surveyors, enhancing their skills and professional growth.

     

    KEY POINTS

    Specific Requirements

    • Hold an industry recognized 3rd level qualification in Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying or a similar field
    • Minimum 5 years’ commercial experience
    • Have experience in Irish Construction Industry at a similar level for minimum 2 years
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills
    • Contractual knowledge and understanding covering RIAI, PWC and related bespoke contracts
    • Technically proficient
