Civil Engineer (Flood Alleviation)

Galway, Claregalway

Our client is a state company who is currently working on a flood relief scheme in Claregalway, Co.Galway

They currently require a Civil Engineer for construction works.

Ideal candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience on the construction of civil engineering projects. Experience on river or coastal works would be an advantage.

Roles & Responsibilities:

We currently require a Site Engineer for the Claregalway Flood Relief Scheme in Claregalway, Co. Galway.

Role

  • Reinstatement of lands;
  • Construction of pipeline(2km length);
  • Liaison with landowners to reinstate lands to a satisfactory standard
  • Construction of Small/medium scale bridge
  • Associated building and civil engineering works.

 Essential:

  • Level 8 degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Safepass Card.
  • Valid driving licence and own car.
  • Desirable:
  • CIF Managing Safety in Construction qualification.

 Experience:

  • experience with a main contractor on the construction of civil engineering projects.
  • experience on river or coastal works would be an advantage.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Management of the day-to-day activities of a direct labour workforce of up to 20 personnel and the
  • associated budgets;
  • Setting out including levelling / Total-station / GPS work;
  • Supervise civil engineering activities such as excavation, shuttering, steelfixing, concrete works,
  • pipelaying, river maintenance and other ancillary activities.
  • Daily record keeping including Daily Allocation Sheets and Plant Sheets;
  • Management of sub-contractors;
  • Providing assistance with the procurement of goods and services;
  • Attending site meetings;
  • Liaison with the local authority and stakeholders including statutory agencies;
  • Health & safety & Welfare Management associated with current legislation, including developing risk
  • assessments and method statements;
  • Quality management;
  • Environmental management associated with Legislation (Fisheries Acts, Wildlife Acts, Habitat)
