Mechanical Research and Development Engineer
Reporting to: Mechanical Design - Team Leader
Responsibilities: Mechanical Engineering
Involvement on projects from RFQ, through to concept and on to production delivery. Must demonstrate an ability in: Packaging investigations Concept evaluation Innovation/creativity Design and prototype development Technology evaluation Interfacing within a multi disciplinary team Working within specific timing plans Supplier and customer interface
Exposure to and experience with: Injection moulding/casting design development Management of sub-suppliers e.g. Tool Maker, Injection Molding supplier, Vehicle/Part Testing, Optics, New technology investigation. DFMEA, DFM&T (inc. reviews) and DVP&R activities on assigned projects Report writing Conduct / Manage DV & PV Testing Working within quality systems i.e. TS16949 Requirements: Graduate in Mechanical Engineering Minimum of 5 years relevant Industrial experience The candidate will have previous experience using 3D CAD tools - preferably CATIA V5 although training could be provided to suitable candidates. This role requires a high degree of Innovation and creativity and will involve Supplier Management activities, interaction with OEM Customers and other Departments within CEL. A general knowledge of Injection Mould Tooling and Moulding processes is a distinct advantage. Familiarity with the general requirements of the Automotive Industry would also be advantageous.
