Description

Category Manager - Procurement.

 

The purpose of this Role is to:

Proactively deliver cost savings and cost avoidance to the business through the development and implementation of a living category plan
Manage the supplier commercial relationship and performance to contracted deliverables
Reduce corporate supply and commercial risks
Fully understand and be expert in the spend category markets and their dynamics
Provide commercial leadership and market insight to the business areas in sourcing strategies and key negotiations
Provide a high level of customer service to internal business partners
Improve working capital
Act as profession ambassador of the Group Procurement function to internal and external parties
Work with team to build the Group Procurement function to Best in Class.
 
 
Key Responsibilities:

Management:

Develop, agree and implement an annual and multi-year procurement pan aligned with group strategy
Provide leadership to procurement specialists as assigned, managing a spend of approx. €120m per annum
Exceed SLA's with customers, reviewing deliverables with key customers quarterly
Lead with business areas to develop category strategy for value enhancement
Optimise the supplier base for value and procurement cost in own category
Work closely with key business customers to ensure compliance to Group Procurement policies
Develop and deepen internal stakeholder relationships and external industry networks
Contribute to the ongoing improvement of procurement systems and processes

Functional:

Leverage e-sourcing techniques where possible
Measure and report procurement savings and cost avoidance to agreed standards
Demonstrate a strong customer service ethic to Commercial Services customers and stakeholders
Demonstrate ownership and expert leadership in contractual negotiations
Provide assessment analysis where required for decisions involving contract types, make/buy, total cost of ownership (TCO), vendor managed inventory (VMI), shared investment, etc.
Conduct regular market research and benchmarking exercises, working closely with Marketing to align on technology and strategy advances and vendor breakthroughs and trends.
Continuously seek opportunities to standardise and tailor specifications to reduce cost
Deploy appropriate sourcing techniques for the goods and services being procured
Deployment of appropriate pricing and legal frameworks to meet procurement task
Build strong professional relationships with key commercial vendors & internal business partners
Develop a strong national and international network of procurement contacts to help benchmark and provide market insight
Review key vendor performance and commercial initiatives though quarterly business reviews
Rationalise supplier base where possible
Lead with key business partners and vendors to optimize procurement value
Monitor, report upon and manage key vendor risk (supply and viability)
Provide leadership across Group Procurement on team process improvement projects as assigned

People Development:
Motivate, coach and develop own team of 2 Procurement Specialists in requisite the skills to excel in role and advance.
Implement the company performance management process, included mid and full year appraisals and individual development.
 

Knowledge/ Skills/ Experience Sought:

Business/Technical Degree Minimum, Master's Preferred
Minimum 5 years' procurement experience
Contract law experience
